CNC Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs) are utilized in producing complex shapes in hard materials using electrical discharges. This process contains both an electrode and a workpiece, which are both fully submerged in dielectric fluid.

Electrical current flows between the workpiece and electrode, melting and removing the material. There are several different types of EDMs to suit various applications; EDM Wire, EDM Sinker, and EDM Hole Popper being the most common.
